Welcome to West Haven on this wonderful Lord’s day! I am so glad you are here. We gather on the Lord’s day to remember that God is Holy, we are sinners, and that Jesus forgives us from all our sins. My prayer for this week has been very specific. I’ve prayed that, through our singing, praying, and proclamation of the Word, God would grant our minds an increased knowledge of his Holiness; I’ve prayed that our increased knowledge would then lead us to greater repentance, faith, and trust in His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Today, we open the Holy Scriptures to a fascinating text in 2 Samuel. This text is one that often causes its readers to be angry with or to question the goodness of God. I hope we will see how even the most noble of intentions can still be sinful and deserving of divine judgment. I believe the authors aim in writing this story was to reveal to us how Holy God is and how sinful we are!
I want to thank you for your kindness and generosity during the month of October (Pastor Appreciation month). It is a joy to pastor this church and to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Pe 3:18). Thank you for your kind gifts, cards, words of encouragement, and as always, prayers. Jenny and I love you deeply. And we look forward to many more years of serving Jesus and His Kingdom alongside all of you!
Have you downloaded the Church Center app? The Church Center app is a hub for (most) things West Haven! With it, you can give and view your giving history, view and sign-up for events, pre-check your children in to the Children’s Ministry, view and communicate with the various groups you belong to (ie. Bible Fellowship Classes), and more! The app is available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play store. Contact the office if you have any questions.
If you are visiting with us today, thank you for joining us! This is a wonderful church who loves Jesus deeply and who desires to serve Him! I’d love to meet with you and tell you more about what God is doing through West Haven.
