I’m glad God brought you here on this second Sunday of a new year! Today we’ll look at John 1 with a sermon entitled, “What God Can Do With An Invitation.” God can bring anyone to Jesus by His sovereign power. Yet He chooses to work through human means. Therefore, our witness will be flawed and weak. But the Holy Spirit works through our weakness to bring people to Jesus. That is a great encouragement! I hope you see that truth in these verses this morning.

Next week is our Missions Fair immediately after church. There will be 11 ministries represented. When the service is finished, please go to the Fellowship Hall and be seated at a table. (The fellowship hall is on the lower level.) Lunch will be smoked pork sandwiches, and baked beans. As soon as you eat lunch, please visit each of the ministries. You will find many areas where you, your students, and children can serve Jesus! Attending will be:

  • KVC Kansas
  • Insight Women’s Center
  • Vision 3:16 (Larry Merry)
  • Good Shepherd Thrift Store and Food Bank
  • North American Mission Board
  • Kansas City Kansas Baptist Association
  • Court Appointed Special Advocates of Leavenworth
  • Sparrow Women’s Clinic
  • Refuge KC
  • Kansas Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists (now called “Church Forward.”)
  • Operation Christmas Child

(We invited Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Joy Meadows. Both declined.)

The Fair is a fantastic chance for you and your family to learn more about these ministry opportunities! Please take the time to stay and see what is available.

Today our Growth Track is immediately after church. This is for you to investigate membership at West Haven. We will feed you lunch and, you will hear from me and ministry leaders about our mission and activities. There will be plenty of time for questions. Thanks to those of you who signed up!
