It’s always good to come back after a week off. I didn’t realize it, but I was running on empty – mentally, spiritually, and even emotionally. 2020 was a year of extraordinary challenges.

However, after a simple week of rest, prayer, and unhurried Bible reading, I have a refreshed perspective on ministry, church leadership, and the sovereignty of our Lord! 2021 is going to be a good year. I hope you’ll be on board as we move into what God has for us in this year.

January 24th is Compassion International Sunday. We will partner with two churches in Managua, Nicaragua. These churches are geographically very close to each other. We will receive:

  1. 60 Sponsorship Packets for children from those two churches.
  2. 90 Sponsorship Packets for children within 5 miles of those two churches.

Our goal is to sponsor all 150 of these children!

Please pray about a long-term sponsorship for at least one of those children. Some have HIV. Others are designated as “Highly Vulnerable Children.” They live in an area where they are likely to be abused or exploited. Other children who need surgery or are suffering from illness. And there are still others who have been waiting a long time for a sponsor.

On January 24th, you’ll have the opportunity to sponsor one or more of these children. I’ll be preaching about missions that Sunday also, as part of our ongoing “Great Commission Reset” series. I believe God is giving us this opportunity to make a substantial difference in many lives.

Also, I hope to be able to send you a series of videos via email. These videos will give you a good idea of what it’s like to grow up in third world poverty. These will be distributed via our email list. If you are not on that list, please contact Christina Lindholm at christina@westhaven.church.

God bless you as you seek to follow Jesus in 2021!
