One of the reasons I love the Lord’s Day is to get to connect with you. You are my brothers and sisters.
In the book of Mark, Jesus redefines family relationships. He was told that his mother and brothers were looking for Him. His response was: Mark 3:33-35 (NASB) “Who are My mother and My brothers?” 34 Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers! 35 “For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother.”
So Jesus defines “family” not by blood relationships. He defines them by our relationship to God as our Father. This, of course, doesn’t preclude the importance of natural family relationships. But it doesn’t point us to a very significant bond. Believers are children of one Father. The love and care that exists in that local church family is unlike any other. If you are not a member of West Haven, I want to invite you to membership today. Few things are sweeter than putting down roots in a local church, loving your brothers and sisters, and serving Jesus together. If you want to inquire about membership, complete the card in the chair in front of you. Put it in a basket at the back of the worship center. We will contact you!
Our next opportunity to bless our community is Feb. 26 at the PTC Carnival at Tonganoxie Elementary School. Zaydie Foster is part of that group. She is going to come today to talk more about the carnival and encourage your involvement. I hope you will join us! Information on how to serve is elsewhere in today’s bulletin.
You’ve noticed the improvements in the foyer and in the worship center. We hope the larger monitors will enable you to see better. We always want to keep our facility up to date. I greatly appreciate Nathan’s leadership in this, and Gordon Brest doing much of the work behind the scenes. We are now using three cameras for our live stream. We are incorporating graphics this week. I appreciate all who serve in our sound and video areas. They serve Jesus, and you, and they do it with excellence. And that glorifies Him!
