Our gathering on Sunday will be the first Sunday after Easter. Imagine being in Jerusalem the Sunday after the first Easter. You still can hardly believe Jesus is alive. May He grant us the same wonder and awe today!
Today we begin a series entitled “Practical Christianity” in the book of James. The key verse might be James 1:22 (NASB) which says
But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
James presses home to us the importance of putting feet to our faith. It’s the oldest epistle in the New Testament (meaning the earliest after Christ’s resurrection) and therefore, it contains many exhortations on how to live out the “resurrected life.” I am trusting that God will be glorified and you will be blessed over the next few months.
We have much good news in the pipeline. We are working toward some baptisms. Our building debt is about to be paid (stay tuned on that one.) We had to postpone our Free Garage Sale but we’ll announce a new date soon. These are good days. I hope you’ll double down on inviting people to church. There are many ways of reaching people but the most effective is almost always a personal invitation to church.
